‘NFT in Peace’ WWE Presents The Undertaker NFTs Ahead Of WrestleMania

The World Wrestling Entertainment announced today it will create the corporation’s first-ever non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing legendary moments from the career of one of the most iconic fighters – The Undertaker. The four-tier drop will be launched ahead of the company’s biggest event this Saturday, April 10th – WrestleMania.

The Deadman as an NFT

WWE announced it will release non-fungible tokens featuring Mark William Calaway, better know by his ring name, The Undertaker. The legendary ex-superstar NFTs, who retired from professional wrestling last year, will be one of the spotlights of this year’s Wrestlemania.

The auction will open this Saturday at 10:30 AM ET. The drop is supposed to be met with significant interest and will last for 37 hours. The end will be on Sunday, April 11th, at 11:30 PM ET.

The Undertaker NFTs will be offered in four tiers – Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The Platinum and Gold will have minimum open bids of respectively $10,000 and $5,000, while the other two will have fixed prices – $1,000 for the Silver and $100 for the Bronze.

The top option would also provide VIP access, hotel accommodations, a personalized video message from the superstar, as well as a unique WWE Championship Title Belt.

The Gold one – would get the winner two front-row-seat tickets at a Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown of their choice in 2021 or 2022, a personalized video message, and a signed Title Belt.

The Silver and Bronze tiers would provide more limited benefits to the winners.

World Wrestling Entertainment has partnered with Bitski for the project. With this being announced, it means participants will need to have a Bitski account, and winners will receive NFTs in their wallets.

The Expansion of NFT

Non-fungible tokens have been a hot topic recently as they have enjoyed mass acceptance and adoption from various celebrities and industries.

As CryptoPotato recently reported, the US Major League Baseball team Toronto Blue Jays explored options to take advantage of non-fungible tokens. The team’s President and CEO confirmed the move by indicating that it should enhance fan interest in the sport.

Another fresh example of the increased popularity of NFT is Lindsay Lohan’s plan to release an exclusive NFT collection. The famous American actress reaffirmed her support for non-fungible tokens by partnering with TRON to launch personalized digital art products.

In his turn, the founder of TRON and the CEO of BitTorrent, Justin Sun, went even further. Recently, he bought a painting by Picasso for $20 million, and he intended to tokenize it through the JUST NFT Fund.

Jack Dorsey’s NFT Tweet to Help the Poor in East Africa

As the non-fungible token (NFT) craze continues, Jack Dorsey is auctioning his first tweet on Twitter as an NFT. Dorsey posted this tweet on May 6, 2006. The auction is taking place on Valuables and will end on March 21, 2021.

Jack Dorsey NFT Tweet

Dorsey has tweeted he will convert the proceeds of this auction to bitcoin and donate them to GiveDirectly. This is a non-profit organization that seeks to end extreme poverty in East Africa. Donations sent to GiveDirectly benefit people in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.

Currently, the highest bidder of this NFT tweet was a Twitter user with the handle @sinaEstavi. He outbid Tron CEO Justin Sun, who had bid $1 million. Estavi bid $2.5 million.

Valuables wrote: “The tweet itself will continue to live on Twitter. What you are purchasing is a digital certificate of the tweet, unique because it has been signed and verified by the creator. Owning any digital content can be a financial investment, hold sentimental value, and create a relationship between collector and creator. Like an autograph on a baseball card, the NFT itself is the creator’s autograph on the content, making it scarce, unique, and valuable.”

Uncertain Regulatory Environment Pushes Crypto Firms Out of South Africa

The uncertain regulatory environment is pushing crypto firms out of South Africa. According to an article on Business Tech, the MTI scam gave regulators in South Africa a jolt and some firms will not wait to see how the matter pans out from a regulatory standpoint.

These crypto firms are planning on moving to Singapore and the UK. That is because Singapore is redrawing legislation to attract crypto firms while the UK is getting requests to embrace cryptocurrencies.

Revix, a crypto investment platform that allows customers to invest in a bundle of cryptocurrencies, is moving its headquarters from Cape Town to the UK. The company is also considering setting up in Germany to scale its operations.

Luno is another crypto company with headquarters in the UK despite being owned by South Africans. The exchange also operates in Singapore.

South African regulators “have been incredibly slow in terms of regulation in the industry and that leads to businesses looking internationally. In an unregulated environment, a customer arrives at our platform with skepticism, and rightfully so,” said Revix CEO Sean Sanders in an interview.

According to Sanders, the uncertainty regarding potential regulation is also making it difficult for crypto firms to market their services on social media platforms thereby limiting growth.

Bitcoin price unexpectedly turned around to increase more than $ 2,100, while the top cryptourrencies also increased sharply

Despite the best efforts by bulls for what has been several weeks now, Bitcoin price can’t seem to get back above $60,000 and spend any meaningful time above it. Fundamentals are as bullish as it gets for the top cryptocurrency, but bearish technicals might have finally caused sellers to step in.

Bitcoin price bull run on the ropes as technicals face off against fundamentals

Bitcoin price has had its best year on record yet dollar for dollars and fundamentals, the stock-to-flow, and just about all other data suggests that the bull run isn’t near finished yet.

Technicals have been long overheated given the strength of the showing by bulls, leaving a large string of green monthly candles on the price chart without any serious corrective behavior. The once trending strong cryptocurrency has begun to slow, struggling specifically with anything around $60,000.

Indicators such as the logarithmic MACD are turning down on weekly timeframes for the first time since the bull phase began, and the quarterly candle just closed with the first-ever bearish divergence in history. Yet the top cryptocurrency hasn’t corrected anywhere near it has in the past.

At press time, Bitcoin unexpectedly turned around to increase more than $ 2,100, while the top cryptocurrencies also increased sharply, pushing the total market cap to $ 1,980 billion.

Over the previous 24 hours, Bitcoin’s price traded as low as $ 55,758 billion and as high as $ 58,231 billion. Trading volume reached 53 billion USD, capitalization increased sharply to 1,088 billion USD.

Many other cryptocurrencies also climbed following Bitcoin such as Ethereum up 4.7% to $ 2,094, Binance Coin up 9% to $ 418, XRP up 10.9% to $ 1.05, Cardano up 2.5% to $ 1.22. , Polkadot increased 3.6% to $ 41.7… As a result, the total market capitalization reached 1,980 billion USD, up 4.2%.

Bitcoin’s price has risen sharply since the beginning of the year, thanks to increasing interest in the cryptocurrency market by businesses and financial institutions. Many other large investment institutions also announced that they are considering investing and accepting the currency as a form of payment. Private bank Donner & Reuschel of Germany announced it will provide crypto buying and depository services to its customers.

JP Morgan Bank predicts that Bitcoin can reach a theoretical level in the long term of $ 146,000 when it starts to compete with gold.

According to Citibank analysts, the digital currency price could reach $ 318,000 by the end of this year. Strategist Mike McGlone suggests that Bitcoin could be traded for over $ 400,000 by 2022 if the market follows previous trends, which we have seen throughout 2013 and 2017.

The information has continued to give investors an optimistic view about the future of Bitcoin in particular and the crypto market in general.

Hong Kong-based app-maker Meitu bought another 175 BTC to reach the $100 million in its Cryptocurrency Investment Plan

According to the announcement today, the beauty application Meitu purchased another 175 BTC to reach the $100 million mark it set for itself in its Cryptocurrency Investment Plan.

Meitu buys another $10 million in Bitcoin

Therefore, the goal to invest $100 million in the cryptocurrency of Meitu has been achieved. The plan called for Meitu to add $100 million in BTC and ETH to its treasury, both as an investment and preparation for future initiatives. Meitu intends to use some of the ETH to launch decentralized apps in the future.

The publicly traded firm first acquired $40 million in BTC and ETH in early March of this year, when it unveiled its intention to make further purchases. A week later, it purchased another $49 million. Today’s announcement is the final $10 million of the acquisition.

In total, Meitu holds 31,000 ETH (valued at $50.5 million) and 940 BTC (valued at $49.5 million).

Coinbase disclosed in late March that its institutional business facilitated the past purchases, a service it has provided for other public companies such as Tesla. It’s unclear if the latest purchases were also handled by Coinbase.

Meitu is one of the first China-based publicly listed companies to add crypto to their treasury. Other tech firms like Square, Tesla, and MicroStrategy made headlines in the past year for making similar acquisitions.

[Bitstamp] Sameer Dubey joins Bitstamp as Chief Operating Officer

We’re excited to be welcoming another trusted leader from the world of finance to Bitstamp. Sameer Dubey has joined our team as our new Chief Operating Officer.

Sameer brings global leadership in fintech and traditional banking to Bitstamp, where he is taking charge of expanding our operational capabilities as we scale across our global businesses. He is joining us following stints with leading banks such as N26 and Barclays Bank.

At the German neobank N26, Sameer served as the Head of Operations for UK. Prior to N26, he spent over a decade in executive roles at Barclays on their Payments and Cash Management Product team. At Barclays, he also helped the major UK bank take its early steps into the world of blockchain and distributed ledger technology. We recently sat down with Sameer to ask him a few questions about why he chose Bitstamp and how he sees the journey forward.

You’ve built an impressive career at both traditional institutions and neobanks. What convinced you to shift your focus to crypto?

I’ve been engaged with the world of crypto for quite a while. At Barclays, I was one of the founding members of what we called the Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Council, and from that point, I started to see that, in the world of finance, this is probably the most fundamental shift that’s happened for hundreds of years. I saw myself playing a part in this world, so it was more a question of “when” than “if”. I was also familiar with Bitstamp, having been a customer for about four years. So, when the opportunity arose, I knew it would be a good fit.

How do you see the cryptocurrency industry evolving over the next few years?

I think that in a few years, we won’t really be talking about a cryptocurrency industry anymore. It will be another part of finance and innovative crypto businesses will be considered fintechs similarly to how N26 is perceived today. A lot of the groundwork for crypto to fully integrate into finance has already been laid in terms of the market infrastructure and the regulatory frameworks. Now, the trust from traditional players is starting to build up and cryptocurrencies, both as investable assets and as technological innovations, are getting a chance to prove what they can do on the biggest stage.

What part do you see Bitstamp playing in crypto’s evolution?

Bitstamp, from its inception, has been a cornerstone of the crypto industry – I expect us to continue playing that role. Additionally, as crypto merges with finance, the part we play is going to take on new meaning. Part of what makes this space so exciting is that we really can’t know where we’ll be in, let’s say, 10 years. From my perspective right now, I see Bitstamp continuing to provide best-in-class exchange services based on excellent trading technology and outstanding operations. We’re certainly going to build out that core with new assets and trading options, alongside launching brand new services like staking to build out a wider platform. The expertise we’re bringing in now, with leaders joining Bitstamp from various sectors of finance, will be essential on that journey and I’m excited about exploring the future with this team.

At Bitstamp, we’re continuing to bring in top talent and ramp up our global presence. To join Sameer and the rest of our team across Europe, US and Asia, visit our careers page .

Buying Opportunity? Investors Sentiment for Bitcoin and Ethereum Turns Short-Term Bearish

The recent adverse price developments for the top two cryptocurrencies by market cap have caused a mood swing among investors. Data shows that the crowd sentiment towards Bitcoin and Ethereum has dropped to extreme negativity as both assets slumped by about 10% in a few days.

Sentiment Towards BTC and ETH to New Lows

Bitcoin and Ethereum went through steep retracements in the past several days. The primary cryptocurrency failed to overcome $60,000 despite initiating several attempts, and the subsequent rejections drove it to a ten-day low of $55,500 yesterday.

ETH’s price performance seemed significantly more bullish. The second-largest digital asset reached a new ATH two days ago at $2,150. However, it also retraced heavily by losing more than $200 in the following 48 hours to a low of $1,940.

Despite recovering some ground since then, these developments have caused a massive mood swing among cryptocurrency investors. Data provided by the analytics company Santiment indicated that the general sentiment toward the two assets has “dropped to extreme negative territory.”

History shows that similar rapid mood changes could actually indicate a short-term market top or bottom. The graph above demonstrates that when the general sentiment was exceptionally high after price increases, as it happened in late January and mid-February, the trend reversed somewhat immediately.

Consequently, Santiment has classified the current negative state as a “bullish opportunity” for buyers.

Fear and Greed Says It’s Not That Bad

The Fear and Greed Index is another metric that could provide the investors’ sentiment towards the cryptocurrency field. It calculates various types of data, including surveys, social media, volatility, and volume, to determine whether the general mood is positive or negative towards Bitcoin.

The final results range between 0 (extreme fear) and 100 (extreme greed). Somewhat expectedly, the index was well in the extreme greed phase in the past few months, as BTC more than doubled its value since January 1st.

With BTC stuck beneath the $60,000 line, the index declined slightly, but it has still remained above 50 – meaning that it’s still in greed territory. This attests that the cryptocurrency space is prone to quick mood changes, which goes hand in hand with the highly volatile nature of all assets.

It’s worth noting that while prices have retraced slightly lately, BTC’s fundamentals have become even more robust. As reported earlier, Bitcoin’s network continues to increase its security as the hash rate marked yet another all-time high record.

How to Buy Tether (USDT): A Step-by-Step Guide for 2021

Bitcoin broke past the $60,000 mark on March 13, 2021, to surpass Facebook in total market value. To learn more about this and other stories, keep reading this article.

Bitcoin Hits Over $60,000 and Surpasses Facebook in Value

On March 13, 2021, bitcoin recorded a high of $61,683.86. This is yet another milestone that the cryptocurrency has achieved after recording a series of several all-time highs in the past three months.

Institutional investors continue to boost bitcoin’s price with Chinese firm Meitu being the latest company to purchase crypto. The firm bought $22.1 million in ether and $17.9 million in bitcoin.

“Beeple’s $69 million [non-fungible token] record demonstrates the true power of crypto, adding curiosity and fuel to the retail fire. Expect volatility but a landing of $100K levels by Q3,” said Jehan Chu, Managing Partner of trading firm Kenetic.

Furthermore, bitcoin’s market cap has risen to the eighth position, surpassing Facebook. Currently, bitcoin has a market capitalization of about $1.07 trillion while Facebook has a market cap of $808.76 billion.

Luno Users Can Now Earn Interest on Ether and USDC Savings

Luno users can now add ETH and USD coin (USDC) to their savings wallet where they can earn 4 percent and 7.6 percent APR, respectively. The exchange introduced the savings wallet five months ago allowing users to earn up to four percent on their bitcoin savings.

“The addition of two new cryptocurrencies to the savings wallet gives customers even greater flexibility and potential to earn interest as they grow their crypto savings. A high percentage of Africans who own cryptocurrency do so for speculative investment purposes, with the majority holding their crypto for the long term. If your crypto investment strategy is holding your crypto long-term, the savings wallet earns you additional interest for what you were already doing,” said Marius Reitz, the General Manager for Africa, at Luno.

According to a Luno 2020 survey, more than a third of the respondents (35 percent) were not earning interest on their traditional cash savings. On the other hand, 54 percent were not earning interest on their current bank accounts. As a result, Luno wants to change these statistics with its crypto savings wallet.

The savings feature pays out interest monthly and users can access their savings 24/7. Moreover, 250,000 people are using the savings wallet since its launch.

South African Company Invests in Bitcoin

It is not large companies alone that are investing in bitcoin. According to an article on Tech Central, open-source software firm LSD Information Technology has purchased R2 million in bitcoin (about $135,570.70).

The company’s board agreed to invest in the digital asset on January 4, 2021. In the initial purchase, it bought R1 million in bitcoin then bought the other R1 million over the next two weeks. The firm used the crypto exchange BitFund to buy and hold the BTC.

“Our vision is to make the world more open, and bitcoin supports our philosophy on how we believe the world works best. Working in the open-source space seems to attract many crypto enthusiasts for whom the decentralised open nature of cryptocurrencies appeals,” said LSD founder and CEO Stefan Lesicnik.

The firm participates in running and maintaining bitcoin full nodes.

The Central Bank of Sweden Released First Study of Digital Currency

Sweden’s plans to create a central bank digital currency might be more complicated than initially thought according to a new study published by the nation’s central bank. It estimated that the Scandinavian country could delay the release of the e-krona until 2026.

How Does a Cashless Future Look Like?

The Riksbank published the results of the first phase of a pilot project exploring an eventual post-cash era and its consequences. The simulation showed that the rapid speed at which cash is disappearing presents ”potential problems.” However, a digital currency under the control of a central bank has the ability to address them.

The project is colossal, and Sweden’s central bank, which is the oldest one in the world, keeps delaying the timeframe for completing it. Initially, the institution announced it will be ready with the task and move ahead with the e-krona by 2018.

The Riksbank now indicated the current pilot project won’t see the light of day before next year. Some more pessimistic projections, though, stretched the timeframe until the end of 2026.

Mithra Sundberg, who leads the Riksbank project in Stockholm, said that it’s vital to avoid settling on the technology before realizing precisely what the digital currency needs to do. The bank indicated it’s not replacing cash and moving forward with the task will most likely require a new legal framework before releasing it.

In the meantime, the largest economy on the Scandinavian peninsula is proud to be one of the smallest users of cash in the world. During the pandemic, cash usage in the country was at its lowest level ever. According to Riksbank’s research, less than one-tenth of all payments in the county are made in cash.

The Controversy From Other Countries

Norway, Sweden’s neighboring country and another mainly cashless nation, also weighed in on the CBDC topic. However, its central bank said there’s ”no acute need” to introduce digital currency yet.

Other countries also spoke about being a first-mover in the field of digital currency. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell recently opined that there is no need to force the process. He noted that the US would ”rather be right than first”.

Sundberg noted that Sweden’s e-krona project still needs to explore the monetary policy consequence of such a transformation. But her team had ”looked at the technical possibilities of being able to charge interest.”

Meanwhile, the Riksbank has focused on a so-called two-tier model. This system will be responsible for the circulation and redemption of CBDC. Michael Lindgren, the technical project manager at the entity, mentioned that this model will allow direct contact between the so-called participants, such as banks or payment firms, and the end-users.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Losing $4K in 24 Hours, Can BTC Hold the Critical Support Area?

Bitcoin fell by a sharp 4% so far today as it dropped as low as $55,600. The cryptocurrency had started the month with another attempt to breach the $60,000 benchmark level. Unfortunately, it was unable to overcome this resistance through the week as it set a range between $60,000 and $57,000.

Today’s price drop caused bitcoin to break beneath this range as mentioned above. As of writing these lines, and as seen on the following 4-hour chart, it is currently holding the critical support around $56,200 – $56,100, provided by a short-term .382 Fib and a 4-HR 200 moving average line.

BTC Price Support and Resistance Levels to Watch

Key Support Levels: $56,200, $55,600, $55,000, $54,675, $54,200.

Key Resistance Levels: $58,355, $60,000, $60,750, $61,781, $62,400.

Moving forward, if the bears push back beneath the current support at $56,200 (MA-200 on the 4-hour chart), the first support lies at today’s low around $55,500 (which is also a descending trend-line started forming towards the end of January).

This is followed by $55,000, $54,675 (.382 Fib), and the critical level of $54,200 (50-days MA). This last support is further strengthened by an ascending trend line that has been in play since early March 2021.

On the other side, if BTC price will hold here, the first resistance now lies at the daily MA-20 around $56,800. This is followed by $58,355 (February highs), and the crucial area of $60,000. The latter had been rejected at least 5 times over the past month.

The daily RSI has now crossed beneath the midline, indicating bearish momentum has taken control within the market, in the short term. This comes after the RSI produced a bearish divergence signal earlier in the week as we mentioned here in the previous price analysis.
